Helloooo!

Postby sktr021 » Sun Mar 07, 2010 12:24 am

Hey,
I'm Brandon. Um, I drive a 90 XJ Cherokee Wagoneer. Im from Leesburg, FL currently living in Howey in the Hills. This is my second jeep, my first was a 95 XJ that I had about 2 years ago. I also race Harescrambles(endurance dirtbike racing) with FTR, and go to college at Lake-Sumter. Im new to 4X4 stuff, and am hoping to find some nice responsible people to teach me the way. I'm down with the Tread Lightly, as we've lost lots of riding spots for the bikes, and I'm sure the Jeep crowd has suffered too.

If your local say HI!!

Hey Brandon, this site is a little dusty as the closing of off-road areas and the high cost of fuel has forced many of us to get rid of our Jeeps. I usually check in about once a week but it's been a while since anyone has posted.

I have a 79 CJ5 taken apart to the frame but I hope I can start putting it all back together soon. I'll post up here, just not sure anyone will read it.

Well, I looked at the CJ today... I'd like to finish it by December. Maybe that's what I need to do is set a deadline. Thanks for making me think about the restoration. hmmmm

Howya doin Brandon? Welcome. As popeye said, this site's gotten a little on the rusty side, mostly, for the reasons he said. It's a shame too, it's good people here who got along very well for the most part. It used to be an extremely active little group here. But, like popeye said, many of us have either semi-permenantly parked our Jeeps or just gotten out of it all together. Unless you like dirt roads that Grandma's Oldsmobile could handle, there really isn't anywhere left in Florida to ride anymore that's worth a hill of beans, much less the fuel required to get there and back. There's a few secret stashes laying around here and there, but, folks have gotten so tight lipped on those locations, it's become a capitol offense to disclose the location to anyone else.

I think several of us check in from time to time. I look in at least once every week or two normally. So, feel free to pop in with any questions you might have. It's a real safe bet someone here's handled virtually any problem or concern you might come up with. You might just have to wait a bit before anyone gets back to you. It's still fun to build em, and many still do, but, there's just no where to take em.

Popeye, you should definately get on that! I love an old CJ. I bet once you get started you'll get in the build it mode. Plus, it will be big time worth it when your done!

Hello Durangojeeper, I know what you mean about the riding areas. I just like getting out of town and camping with my jeep mainly. I have a mildly built xj, and have had a blast building it up so far.

I've been a ghost on this site lately. I sold my jeep and got a motorcycle. For the reasons stated above florida really isnt the best place for offroading anymore.
