Where in Orlando?

Postby Grant211 » Wed Feb 11, 2009 5:47 pm

Where do you guys go wheeling in the Orlando area?

I've been out to Richloam and know about Ocala. I also know about the spot out by 520&50 that got closed down about a year ago and the old seaworld powerlines.... please say there is a spot closer to the Orlando area.

I hear scottsmoore is swampy, entrance of choice changes dependent upon season and current level of law enforcement activity.

go east into the hammock areas.... the headwaters of the ST. Johns river , no fences because most trails are under 1-2 feet of H2O...this natural wetland extends the length of the peninsula from Orange Park south to the north shore of Lake Okeechobee. make sure your jeep is pretty water resistant. :ugeek:

the Mormon church is the single largest private landowner in the state of Florida (just like Utah and Idaho), and Grant you did happen to know that you live in the city when u bought the jeep right? but all is not lost, since the Mormon properties are watched over by farm managers, not armed guards, if you explore those unposted trails, just stay on the trail and be respectful, most of those guys are regular family guys and live on the property. It wont hurt to talk to them and tell them you were just curious about that road through the woods. I've gotten permission to hunt and/or fish on various parcels, that way. However, If the road is Posted no trespassing , do not go in there. no matter what. they are not kidding.
